A Report from Nina for Drug Control

Dear Selvi,

We recently asked for your thoughts and knowledge on drug control, an important motion that was discussed at Amnesty International’s Global Assembly this year. We were overwhelmed by the number of you who responded, thank you.

It was very interesting to read through all your comments and we gained some enlightening information on the perspectives from your country. Your views as the International Membership were reflected in our voting.

Your feedback has also been passed onto researchers and policy advisers at Amnesty International, so will also be considered in future work.

All in all, the Global Assembly meeting went very well. New policy positions on Drug Control and on Abortion were adopted, and your views as international members were considered during the discussions.

Unfortunately, due to visa issues, I was the only International Membership representative who could attend the meeting in person, so we agreed our voting positions in advance and in virtual discussions throughout the meeting.

Thanks again for your vital contributions to this meeting, and we are excited to continue working together with you to grow and shape our powerful and committed global movement.

Kind regards,
Nina, International Membership Representative (from Bosnia & Herzegovina) and on behalf of your other International Membership Representatives (Pashtana from Afghanistan, Edna from Haiti, Bedar from Iraq)
NB. Amnesty is planning a webinar for international members with policy advisers to discuss abortion and drug policy. Please tell us if you would be interested in attending this event.
